Melania Trump announces death of mother Amalija Knavs

Knavs was 78 and was hospitalized in Miami over the holidays.

Former first lady Melania Trump on Tuesday confirmed the death of her mother, Amalija Knavs.

"It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved mother, Amalija. Amalija Knavs was a strong woman who always carried herself with grace, warmth, and dignity," she posted on X. "She was entirely devoted to her husband, daughters, grandson, and son-in-law. We will miss her beyond measure and continue to honor and love her legacy."

Knavs was 78 and was hospitalized in Miami over the holidays, the Daily Mail reported. She was born in Slovenia and married her husband Viktor before moving to the United States.
