Tesla CEO Elon Musk said Wednesday he regrets some of his recent social media post about President Trump and that they "went too far."

"I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far," Musk posted on X.

The public feud between the president and the world's richest man appeared to begin last month when Musk, after leaving government service, criticized Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill." It escalated last week in a series of social media posts in which Musk claimed the legislation was "disgusting" and accused Trump of intervening in the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files. Musk later deleted the post about Epstein.

Trump appeared to try and defuse the tension with his former ally and political donor on Monday by saying the pair used to have a good relationship, but did not seem ready to mend the fences.

“We had a great relationship and I wish him well — very well, actually,” Trump also said in a video shared on X. Musk responded to the post with a red heart emoji.

The pair additionally reportedly spoke over the weekend in an effort to end the feud.
