Trump to announce Pfizer price cuts, Trump-themed drug website: Report
The website, TrumpRx, will permit direct consumer purchase of pharmaceuticals.
President Donald Trump is expected to announce the development of a Trump-themed online drug market and price cuts from Pfizer as part of his effort to lower healthcare costs.
The website, TrumpRx, will permit direct consumer purchase of pharmaceuticals, Reuters reported, citing "a White House official." Trump previously directed pharmaceutical companies to charge Americans the same prices they charge in other countries.
"Make no mistake: a collaborative effort towards achieving global pricing parity would be the most effective path for companies, the government, and American patients," he warned in July. "But if you refuse to step up, we will deploy every tool in our arsenal to protect American families from continued abusive drug pricing practices."
Polling data has consistently shown rising healthcare costs to rank among top voter concerns. A majority of voters (56%) in a May Napolitan News Service survey, attributed prescription drug prices primarily to corporate greed. Just 20% blamed government regulation while 17% pointed to research and development costs.
