Trump eyes major drug dealers, human traffickers in death penalty expansion if GOP wins midterms
The president, who was speaking in Chillicothe, Ohio, highlighted multiple priorities for the next Congress if Republicans maintain their majorities, including passing the SAVE America Act and promising to crack down on fraud and corruption.
President Trump vowed to an Ohio crowd Wednesday night that Republicans will pass legislation to expand the death penalty to target large-scale drug dealers and human traffickers if they win the midterm elections next week.
The president, who was speaking in Chillicothe, Ohio, highlighted multiple priorities for the next Congress if Republicans maintain their majorities, including passing the SAVE America Act and promising to crack down on fraud and corruption.
"We will win the war on corruption and fraud, led by our great Vice President JD Vance [...] he loves your state," Trump said of the former Ohio senator. "We will pass the No Invasion of Our Country Act, prohibiting any future president from ever opening our borders to illegal immigrants again.
"We will ban sanctuary cities and pass the death penalty for large-scale drug dealers, human traffickers and anyone who kills a police officer or a member of law enforcement," he continued. "We will pass voter identification, proof of citizenship, and the SAVE America Act to defend our sacred American elections. We will save them."
The president added that Republicans will enshrine in federal law a ban on male athletes in women's sports and ban "transgender mutilation of youth," referring to surgical removal of healthy breasts and genitals.
The comments come as Americans prepare to vote in the midterms' general election on Nov. 3.
The president was in Ohio to push residents to vote for Vivek Ramaswamy as the state's next Republican governor and to reelect Ohio Sen. John Husted over former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown.
