Trump praises Georgia's Clay Fuller as 'very large improvement' over Marjorie Taylor Greene
Fuller won the special election Tuesday night to replace Greene in the House, defeating Democrat Shawn Harris.
President Donald Trump slammed former Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene in a statement Wednesday, claiming her newly elected successor, Clay Fuller, is a "very large improvement" over her.
Greene was formerly a close ally of Trump while in Congress, but grew increasingly critical of what she deemed to be his drift towards establishment GOP politics. She left office in the middle of her term and has since become a strong critic of the president.
"Marjorie 'Traitor' Brown’s (green turns to brown under stress) seat in Congress has been taken over by a wonderful and talented man, Clay Fuller, who won convincingly, and right from the beginning, despite many people running for that “TRUMP” +37 seat, and despite the stench left by Greene," Trump posted to Truth Social.
"Congratulations to Clay Fuller, a very large improvement over his deranged predecessor," he added.
Fuller won the special election Tuesday night to replace Greene in the House, defeating Democrat Shawn Harris.
His arrival in Congress is expected to prove a boost to House Speaker Mike Johnson, who has struggled to maintain unity within the narrow Republican majority.
