Trump touts Greenland natural resource, including oil, and defense potential

President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that Greenland has vast potential for natural resource exploitation, as well as strategic military importance.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that the island has "massive oil, gas and mineral exploration" potential.

"There are Experts that are saying that the amount of easily available Oil is far greater than that of almost any land," Trump claimed.

Trump also said that from a security standpoint, Greenland offered defensive and offensive positioning for both the U.S. and Europe, providing superior time, location and "sightline."

"Any future attack on the United States will have to come across Greenland, where our Defense will routinely knock down drones, missiles, or any other form of weapon not yet even conceived," Trump said.
