President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the United States has secured an offtake commitment from Taiwan in his Alaskan energy infrastructure project, which would give Taiwan a 30% stake in the pipeline for the next two decades.

The president was just in Alaska this week to campaign for Alaska GOP Sen. Dan Sullivan and tout the work his administration has accomplished for the state.

Trump said the pipeline project is the largest energy infrastructure project in state history and that South Korea is investing $50 billion in the project, in addition to Taiwan's $70-$80 billion offtake commitment.

"This is the largest Offtake Agreement in History," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "On top of that, Taiwan has also agreed to Invest $4.4 billion in equity into the project, because this is now a U.S. Federal Government Project, with all necessary permits secured, and all necessary authorizations delivered, and ready to go.

"This is the greatest project in Alaska history, and this only happens with me in the White House," he added.

An offtake agreement is a contract in which a buyer agrees to purchase either all of a producer's future ouput or a predetermined portion of it.
