House Democrats' Jan. 6 committee recently finished a series of hearings aimed at portraying former President Trump as the central figure in an orchestrated plot to overturn the outcome of the 2020 presidential election and incite an insurrection.

Critics have noted the hearings allowed no kind of cross examination and showed only one side of the story: the anti-Trump case.

In recent months, Just the News has refuted key claims made by the committee through extensive reporting, especially concerning efforts to call in the National Guard.

The committee is currently considering whether to refer Trump to the Justice Department for prosecution as the department investigates his actions as part of its probe into the civil disturbance at the Capitol and efforts to challenge the 2020 election results.

Renowned civil liberties lawyer Alan Dershowitz told Just the News over the weekend that while Trump's conduct from the election through Jan. 6 may have been distasteful to some, there's no evidence of any criminal activity. He compared the hearings targeting Trump and his allies to the McCarthy hearings of the 1950s, when people were afraid to call out investigative misconduct out of fear of being branded a communist.

Still, supporters of the hearings have argued they revealed new and troubling details about Trump's conduct. Others say nothing new of significance was uncovered, characterizing the hearings as more of a politicized effort to target Trump than an honest investigation into what happened.

What do you think? Were the hearings consequential? Did you learn anything that made you change or rethink your position? Here's your chance to weigh in:

Have the Jan. 6 committee hearings changed your opinion of former President Trump's conduct leading up to, and on the day of, the Capitol riot?
