AOC backs Hochul after Mamdani endorsement

The backing of AOC, Mamdani, and the rest of the House Democrats from the state could help Hochul to shore up her left flank in time for the primary.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and the rest of the state's Democratic delegation are backing Gov. Kathy Hochul, D-N.Y., bolstering her support amid a contentious primary with her lieutenant governor.

Hochul has struggled to dominate the primary field for 2026, despite being the incumbent, and faces a challenge from Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado. AOC and the House Democratic endorsements follow New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani making a similar move.

"I’m so proud to have the support of the New York Congressional Delegation," Hochul said. "Together, we’ve fought back against Trump’s attacks on our state. We’ve fought to lower costs, put money back in families’ pockets, and keep New Yorkers safe.

Let’s go win back the House!"
