Authorities investigate fatal shooting in Memphis by National Guard

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) announced it would review the circumstances of a fatal shooting involving two members of the National Guard that occurred Sunday.

TBI stated that it planned to investigate the circumstances that saw the National Guard troops open fire after pursuing Johnson.
President Donald Trump previously deployed the National Guard to Memphis in a bid to crack down on crime in the city. As of June, the Memphis Safe Streets Task Force the president established had arrested more than 10,000 people and seized 1,178 illegal firearms.
