Brown leads Husted in bid to return to Senate: Poll

Former Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, appears poised to make a return to the upper chamber in November, with a recent survey showing him ahead of Sen. Jon Husted, R-Ohio.

The Impact Research/Fabrizio Ward survey for the AARP found Brown with 48% support among Ohio voters, compared to Husted's 45%. Notably, voters aged 50 and up swung in the opposite direction, with 51% supporting Husted to 43% backing Brown.

Husted received his post in 2025, when Gov. Mike DeWine, R-Ohio, tapped him to replace Vice President JD Vance. He previously served as DeWine's lieutenant governor. Brown lost reelection in 2024 to Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, and is seeking a comeback.

Brown's lead is notable given that Ohio has trended toward Republicans in recent years and has not backed a Democrat for president since 2012.

The survey questioned 800 likely Ohio voters from June 14-16.
