Crowley carves out 7-point lead in WI governor's race, with days to go: Poll
The contest is set for Tuesday, along with the rest of the midterm elections, leaving precious few remaining days for candidates to persuade undecided voters.
Democratic Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate David Crowley appears to have carved out a significant lead over Rep. Tom Tiffany, R-Wis., in the battle to succeed Gov. Tony Evers, D-Wis., according to a recent survey.
The contest is set for Tuesday, along with the rest of the midterm elections, leaving precious few remaining days for candidates to persuade undecided voters.
But Crowley may not feel as much pressure as Tiffany, in light of the latest Marquette University poll. In that survey, Crowley earned 51% support among likely voters, to Tiffany's 44%.
That lead narrowed among registered voters, however, with Crowley earning 47% support to Tiffany's 44%.
The gubernatorial contest is expected to be one of the most competitive of the November midterms and represents one of the Republican Party's better chance to flip a governor's mansion in a cycle expected to generally go against them.
Conducted Oct. 14-22, the survey questioned 818 Wisconsin registered voters and has a margin of error of +/- 4.3%.
