DHS confirms existence of body cam footage of anti-ICE protester's death

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Monday confirmed the existence of body camera footage of the death of Alex Pretti, an anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) demonstrator in Minneapolis who was killed over the weekend.

A DHS official told NewsNation that the officers involved were wearing body cameras and that the agency was reviewing the footage.

Pretti was reportedly in possession of a firearm during an altercation with law enforcement and video footage showed an officer shoot him during the exchange. DHS has defended the conduct of their agents.

The altercation marked the second fatal exchange in Minneapolis amid the ICE deployment, following the death of Renee Good, whom an ICE agent shot while in her vehicle. 

President Donald Trump on Monday confirmed he had spoken with Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minn., and that he had offered to work with Washington amid the deployment.
