Harvard president taking 25% pay cut, amid Trump's federal funding cuts to university

Harvard University President Alan Garber is taking a 25% pay cut amid President Trump cutting billions in federal funding to the university. 

The decision was announced Wednesday, one day after the Trump administration announced that it is cutting another $450 million in grants to Harvard, according to CBS News. 

The administration has cut funding in an effort to get the Ivy League college to do more to curb antisemitism on campus and end diversity, equity and inclusion policies. 

The Harvard Crimson, which was the first to report the news, said Harvard presidents typically earn over $1 million annually. The cut is reportedly for only one year. 

Earlier this month, dozens of tenured Harvard professors said they would donate 10% of their salaries "as our contribution to the university's financial resources while it legally contests these attacks," CBS also reports. 

Harvard is meanwhile attempting to get funding restored, having filed a filed a lawsuit in April after the administration froze $2.2 billion in federal funds.
