Legal group offers parental resource to protect disabled children from 'ideological manipulation'

America First Legal is offering a resource for parents with children who have disabilities, which the group says will "equip parents of children with disabilities with an additional resource to advocate on behalf of their children."

The toolkit, which is part of the group's Parent and Student Action Center, shows parents how to use the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to protect children from "ideological manipulation" and hold school districts accountable when they violate the law. 

"AFL’s IDEA toolkit arms parents with an arsenal of tools designed to ensure that they, not the government, remain in control of their children’s education," the group said in a statement. 

The toolkit outlines various rights the IDEA grants parents, including mandatory parental consent for evaluations, the right to examine all records, the right to revoke consent at any time, and the right to participate in all meetings regarding identification, evaluation and educational placement.
