162 Jewish and Christian Leaders raise concerns about El-Sayed
The 162 signatories include rabbis, members of Congress, state legislators, pastors, and national leaders, reflecting a broad interfaith effort to address concerns about El-Sayed’s rhetoric.
The National Association of Christian Lawmakers, the Coalition for Jewish Values, and 160 additional Jewish and Christian leaders and allies from across the United States issued a statement Friday expressing concerns about Michigan Democratic nominee for Senate Abdul El-Sayed, calling for greater accountability in confronting antisemitism.
The 162 signatories include rabbis, members of Congress, state legislators, pastors, and national leaders, reflecting a broad interfaith effort to address concerns about El-Sayed’s rhetoric regarding Israel, his response to the March 12 attempted attack on Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan, and his repeated political appearances with controversial streamer Hasan Piker.
"We ask Americans of every faith and political persuasion to stand with us in affirming two truths that must never be in doubt: Israel is America's friend, and Jewish safety is non-negotiable," the letter stated.
