Ballot machines in Westchester County, New York, won't accept paper ballots, officials investigating
The Westchester Board of Elections issued a statement, saying that ballots are secure and would be counted.
Ballot scanners across Westchester County, New York, were down Tuesday morning.
However, Republican Rep. Mike Lawler said on X that residents' ballots will still be counted.
"Stay on line and vote. Do not leave the polling place without voting," Lawler said.
Lawler said that the exact cause of the issue, whether it's the ballot or the machine, wasn't known, but the Board of Elections is working with their vendors to address the problem.
The board issued a statement, saying that they're aware of the issue involving voting machines not accepting paper ballots throughout the county.
"The Westchester Board of Elections wants to reassure every voter that your vote matters, your ballot will be secure and your vote will be counted," the board said.
