California Gov. Gavin Newsom was captured on video telling an unidentified reporter that the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) will become a key player in future elections.

The reporter identified herself in the video as a "young voter" and said voters like her want to see more support for "democratic socialist policies" from the Democratic Party, Townhall reported.

Newsom replied that the party's strategy isn't to "manage the status quo and fail more efficiently."

“So the DSA, the energy and the desire and demand for bold change, not incremental change, is very much going to be dominant. I mean, that’s going to be a mainstream democratic movement. Absolutely," Newsom said.

He added that the "system's broken" and Democrats can't "play in the margins anymore."

The video was taken in mid-October while Newsom was campaigning in New Hampshire for Democratic House candidate Stefany Shaheen.
