An election-integrity watchdog filed a complaint on Monday under the federal Help American Vote Act, urging Texas officials to investigate and resolve 1,057 duplicate voter registrations across south Texas congressional districts.

The Public Interest Legal Foundation discovered the registrations of individuals who appear to be registered more than once while analyzing voter registration data across 22 counties in south Texas.

Under the Help America Vote Act, states are required to maintain accurate voter registration records and eliminate duplicate names from their voter rolls.

“Tiny mistakes can alter outcomes. Duplicate registrations are easy to correct, and we hope Texas fixes the mountain of mistakes that PILF found, especially in Brownsville and McAllen," PILF President and General Counsel J. Christian Adams said in a statement.
