GOP probe in New Jersey finds hundreds of noncitizens on voter rolls
In Atlantic County alone, more than 50 noncitizens attested that they were unknowingly registered to vote.
The New Jersey Republican Party and the Republican National Committee requested voter rolls from all 21 New Jersey counties, and found hundreds of noncitizens registered to vote.
Most of the noncitizens were registered Democrats, and they had made attempts to get removed from the rolls, saying they were unknowingly added. They were seeking naturalization, and being registered to vote, they feared, could disqualify them.
In Atlantic County alone, more than 50 noncitizens attested that they were unknowingly registered to vote. Official letters to New Jersey election officials certified that noncitizens had asked to be removed. At least two of the letters showed noncitizens had a voting record, Fox News reported.
Republican National Committee Chair Joe Gruters said that he thinks there are likely a lot more noncitizens registered to vote across the country, but Democratic-run states resist attempts to get voter registration lists, making it hard to document them.
Despite claims that noncitizens are not voting, Gruters said, they're finding noncitizens in every county of New Jersey voluntarily requesting to be removed from the voter rolls.
