Michigan Senate Democrat candidate Abdul El-Sayed disinvites Rep. Haley Stevens from campaign event
The move escalates a public dispute between the two Democrats over an advertisement criticizing U.S. support for Israel
Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed has asked Rep. Haley Stevens, his former primary rival, to stay away from his remaining campaign events just days before the Nov. 3 election.
The move escalates a public dispute between the two Democrats over an advertisement criticizing U.S. support for Israel and linking that aid to rising grocery prices.
Stevens, who endorsed El-Sayed after losing the August primary, called on him to condemn the advertisement, produced by the outside group Rebellion PAC, and address concerns about his past comments on Israel.
El-Sayed pushed back, accusing Stevens of reopening a primary contest that ended months ago and distracting from his campaign against Republican nominee Mike Rogers.
