President Trump's preferred candidate in the Minnesota governor's race, MyPillow founder Mike Lindell, is reportedly not registered to vote in the state. However, he can still run for the seat.

The GOP primary's candidate's status was reported Friday by the Minnesota Star Tribune

The newspaper reports it received confirmation on Lindell's voting status from the Minnesota Secretary of State’s office, which reportedly said Lindell “does not have an active record." In addition, the newspaper's review of voter records shows Lindell has an active voter registration in Texas.

Lindell, who announced his bid for governor earlier this year and who recently secured Trump's endorsement, can run in next month's primary but will not be able to vote for himself. He previously acknowledged needing to change state residency to officially run for Minnesota governor and says he has since completed that criteria.

"Obviously I’m going to vote. I’m not going to vote twice," he said. “My company hasn’t left [Minnesota].  love Minnesota and this is where I was born and raised, and I’m staying put in Minnesota.”

He faces Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth and retired health executive Kendall Qualls in the Aug. 11 primary. Qualls has been endorsed by the Republican Party.
