Scott Colom is projected to win the Mississippi Senate Democratic primary

Mississippi Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson is projected to win his primary election, according to The Associated Press on Tuesday.

Thompson, who is the longest-serving current member of Congress and the Mississippi delegation's lone Democrat, faced two primary challengers in his race for an 18th term. He is projected to win with 84.6% of the vote, with 23% of the votes tallied.

Mississippi GOP Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith has been projected to win her primary election.

The race was called with 3% of the votes tallied, as Hyde-Smith received 83% of the vote compared to her challenger's, Sarah Adlakha, 17%.

The projected winner of the Mississippi Senate Democratic primary is Scott Colom, with 67.8% of the vote and 20% of the votes tallied.

In the GOP primary race for Mississippi's Fourth Congressional District, Rep. Mike Ezell was projected to win reelection with 83.1% of the vote and 22% of the votes counted.
