Rep. Cori Bush trails main Democratic opponent Wesley Bell by 23 percentage points, poll

Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., could be the next member of the "Squad" of progressive lawmakers in the House to be defeated in a re-election bid.

Bush is behind St. Louis prosecuting attorney Wesley Bell by 23%, according to a new poll out on Monday.

According to the results of the survey conducted by McLaughlin & Associates for the CCA Action Fund, Bush is down 33% to 56% in the Aug. 6 Democratic primary race for Missouri’s 1st Congressional District.

The other 11% was comprised of respondents who said they were supporting Democrats Ron Harshaw, Maria Chappelle-Nadal or no candidate (undecided).

The CAA Action Fund is an anti-Bush Political Action Committee (PAC).

Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., was the first member of the Squad to lose his primary, largely due to his anti-Israel stance on the war in Gaza. 

Bush has also been a strong opponent of Israel's response to the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack.

Bush and members of the Squad, including Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Min.., called for a ceasefire early on in the Gaza war.
