President Donald Trump taunted eight Indiana state senators Tuesday afternoon as they face tough primaries after blocking a redistricting effort in the state.

Trump endorsed the challengers to seven of the eight Republicans, whom he claimed were "Republicans In Name Only" by using the acronym RINO, because they helped vote down a proposed slate of congressional maps in December of last year, despite pressure from state leaders and national Republican figures.

"Good luck to those Great Indiana Senate Candidates who are running against people who couldn’t care less about our Country, or about keeping the Majority in Congress," Trump posted to Truth Social. "There are eight Great Patriots running against long seated RINOS — Let’s see how those RINOS do tonight!"

Trump, in February, issued endorsements of six challengers, backing Blake Fiechter, Tracey Powell, Paula Copenhaver, Brenda Wilson, Michelle Davis, and Jeff Ellington

Republicans currently hold a 7-2 lead among Indiana’s delegation in the House, and the new map was redrawn to have boundaries so that GOP candidates would be favored in all nine districts.
