White House says House GOP's anti-green, budget proposal would ‘poison’ kids and ‘melt bones’
Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre's comments came as President Biden announced federal climate action.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Friday that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's budget proposal attempts to reverse climate change initiatives so much that it would "fill our cities with smog and give asthma to our children."
She also said from the White House Briefing Room the GOP's plan will "make it easier for oil companies to use toxic chemicals that cause severe burns, damage people's eyes, and quite literally melt bones."
The press secretary also called it a "ransom note" because the House GOP wants to tie an increase in the country's statutory debt limit to spending cuts across government.
House Republicans say they want to lower taxes on oil and gas production and increase the country's energy independence with its predominant source of energy: fossil fuels.
