Federal workers are fed up with the ongoing government shutdown and their largest union has urged Democrats to capitulate and join Republicans by passing a continuing resolution to fund the government.

The American Federation of Government Employees represents more than 820,000 federal workers, according to NBC News. Union President Everett Kelly on Tuesday issued a statement calling for a clean CR to end the shutdown.

“It’s time to pass a clean continuing resolution and end this shutdown today. No half measures, and no gamesmanship," Kelly said. “It’s time for our leaders to start focusing on how to solve problems for the American people, rather than on who is going to get the blame for a shutdown that Americans dislike."

The shutdown has persisted for nearly a month and was the result of the Senate's failure to approve a clean continuing resolution to fund the government.
