Stock market continues to slump over Trump tariffs

The stock market has been on a downward trend over the past week, after President Donald Trump announced his global tariffs on Wednesday, with some markets recording their worse day in several years.

The global stock market on Tuesday closed at another loss after the White House announced new tariffs on China, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 300 points (0.8%) at the close of business.

The stock market has been on a downward trend over the past week, after President Donald Trump announced his global tariffs on Wednesday, with some markets recording their worst day in several years late last week. 

The stock market opened with a small surge in the S&P 500, but the number faded by the end of the day. The S&P 500 closed with a 1.6% loss, according to the New York Times

The Nasdaq Composite closed with a 335 point loss, which amounts to a 2.2% decrease from Monday.
