Retired Air Force Lt. Col. David Flippo is projected to win a competitive House Republican primary to succeed Rep. Mark Amodei, R-Nv.

The Associated Press called the race on Wednesday morning. As of press time, Flippo led with 45.7% of the vote to James Settelmeyer's 35.3%, with 83% of precincts reporting.

Flippo previously secured Trump's endorsement in the contest.

The 2nd congressional district is reliably Republican. Amodei has represented the district since 2011, but announced this year that he would not seek reelection.
