Florida taps Matt Gaetz for board post
Gaetz announced his appointment to the board in an X post, which included a letter from state House Speaker Daniel Perez, R, informing him of his selection.
Former Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., on Tuesday announced that the state legislature had appointed him to a board of directors responsible for disbursing settlement funds to Florida residents affected by a 2010 oil spill.
Gaetz announced his appointment to the board in an X post, which included a letter from state House Speaker Daniel Perez, R, informing him of his selection.
"I am returning to public service!
Thank you, Speaker Perez, for this appointment.
I look forward to the work ahead as we continue improving the lives of Northwest Floridians," he posted on X.
Gaetz served in the House until 2025. He resigned after President Donald Trump named him to serve as attorney general, though he was unable to secure Senate confirmation and ultimately became the host of a program on the One America News Network.
