GOP senator files bar complaint against Jack Smith

Sen. Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn., on Wednesday announced that he had filed a bar complaint against former special counsel Jack Smith in the wake of his Tuesday testimony on Capitol Hill.

Smith appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee this week to answer questions about his criminal cases against President Donald Trump. The hearing saw Republicans and Democrats largely stick to their political talking points, while Smith insisted he had acted in a non-partisan manner. But many Republicans left unsatisfied with his contentions.

"I filed a bar complaint against Jack Smith this morning. He’s a blatantly partisan actor and his prosecutorial misconduct damaged our constitutional order. He should never be able to practice law again," Hagerty posted on X.

The complaint to the Board of Professional Responsibility to the Supreme Court of Tennessee alleges that Smith engaged in misconduct through his acquisition of communications involving members of Congress.
