Grassley presses Noem on paroled illegals after IG report
The Biden administration made extensive use of presidential parole authority to admit millions of illegal aliens into the country on a temporary basis.
Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, on Thursday pressed Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem for information on the DHS's handling of parolees after an Inspector General report found that recipients could remain in the U.S. without consequence after the expiration of their status.
“The OIG found that multiple Biden-DHS components – including U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) – failed to uphold their respective responsibilities under federal law and executive policy for tracking and enforcing parole expirations,” Grassley wrote to Noem.
The Biden administration made extensive use of presidential parole authority to admit millions of illegal aliens into the country on a temporary basis, though it evidently did little to track parole recipients or enforce immigration law after the expiration of their parole.
Grassley specifically pressed Noem to address the steps her DHS had taken to address the IG's concerns and to remedy the situation.
