Grassley reveals Jack Smith gathered media communications with gov't sources

Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, on Tuesday revealed that special counsel Jack Smith had gathered communications between the media and government sources as part of his investigation into President Donald Trump.

"Now, what will partisan media say about this disgraceful government overreach? I want to hear their response, and I will, if they are responsible media. This wasn't a normal prosecution by any means," Grassley said.

The Iowa senator made the remarks during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in which Smith testified. He further enumerated the outlets that Smith's investigation impacted.

"What I can say today is that Smith also obtained communications from members of the media to include 60 Minutes, Associated Press, Bloomberg, CBS, CNBC, CNN, Fox News, L.A. Times, Mark Levin Show, Media Research Center, NBC, NPR, New York Magazine, Reuters, The Federalist, The Washington Post, Washington Times, and The Wall Street Journal," he said.

Smith has stood by his decision to prosecute Trump and is fielding questions from lawmakers as of press time.
