Dozens of people across 7 states get sick from salmonella tied to eggs, federal health officials say
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control said that 79 people have gotten a strain of salmonella that was linked to eggs.
Dozens of people across seven states in the Midwest have gotten sick due to a salmonella outbreak tied to eggs, federal health officials said Saturday.
The August Egg Company had to recall roughly 1.7 million brown organic and brown cage-free egg varieties from grocery stores over the past three months due to concerns about salmonella, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control said that 79 people have gotten a strain of salmonella that was linked to eggs. Twenty-one people have been hospitalized.
The states impacted by the recall of eggs are California, Arizona, New Mexico, Illinois, Wyoming, Indiana, Nebraska, Nevada and Washington state, according to ABC News.
The CDC advised individuals who purchased recalled eggs to either throw them away or return them to the store where they were bought.
