Grammy-winning singer Carly Simon announces she has Parkinson's disease

Grammy-winning singer Carley Simon, 83, revealed she has Parkinson's disease. 

The "You're So Vain" singer shared the news on Friday in an update explaining her absence from the public eye. 

“So many people have written to me, kindly wondering about my relative silence, asking how I am and what I have been doing. The truth is, I’ve been learning how to live with Parkinson’s disease,” she said in a statement, NBC News reported. 

She went on to say that she's taken some time to adjust to the diagnosis and decide how much she wanted to say publicly. She said the disease is different for everyone, and some days she's too tired to move. 

"On others, it gives me a little more room to move, think, work, and feel like myself," Simon said.
