HHS Secretary Kennedy releases Make America Healthy Again Commission report
The report found that poor diet, environmental toxins, unhealthy habits, and pharmaceuticals are contributing to a national rise in chronic illnesses, particularly among children.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., released the Make America Healthy Again Commission report on Thursday, which examined causes of chronic illnesses.
The report found that poor diet, environmental toxins, unhealthy habits, and pharmaceuticals are contributing to a national rise in chronic illnesses, particularly among children, CNN reported.
Regarding the cost of launching studies on nutritious food, vaccines and environmental exposure, Kennedy told reporters on Thursday, “There is no budget.”
“At this point, there’s no concrete policy that could be funded in the budget; we’re going to work out the policy recommendations over the next 100 days.”
Kennedy also said, “We’re going to save a lot more money in the long run and even in the short run, if we can reduce the numbers, which we intend to do during this administration.”
The report is in response to the 100-day review of Americans' health that President Trump ordered through an executive order.
Kennedy will present the report at an Oval Office event with Trump on Thursday afternoon.
Farmers and Republican lawmakers are concerned about the bill's potential impact on American farmers, particularly about glyphosate, the ingredient commonly used in pesticides sprayed on crops.
Kennedy has said the report will be unfavorable to farmers, according to the Associated Press.
