Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr on Monday teased that new dietary guidelines that will be released next month will supposedly end the “war on saturated fats.”

Kennedy hinted last month that the guidelines could include recommendations to increase consumption of saturated fat by eating more foods like butter, cheese, milk and red meat.

The secretary told the Food Allergy Fund Leadership Forum that the new guidelines will "revolutionize" the food culture in the United States and emphasize the importance of consuming saturated fat and protein.

“We’re ending the war on saturated fats in this country," Kennedy declared. "We’re going to publish dietary guidelines that are going to stress the importance of protein and saturated fats. And those will come out, I think, next month. And I think that will really revolutionize the food system in the country, the food culture in this country."

Kennedy also highlighted some of the actions that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has taken under his leadership, including increasing federal oversight of baby formula.
