The Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey says the local health department's findings of health violations against the club are politically motivated.

The Somerset County Department of Health in its May 6 food inspection report found 18 health violations at the club following an early May inspection, The Hill news outlet reported

The department found that there was improper separation of raw meats from ready-to-eat foods, which made products susceptible to contamination, and that food contact surfaces were not properly cleaned and sanitized.

“Never before have we witnessed such visceral hostility from the health department,"  David Schutzenhofer, general manager of Trump National Bedminster, told The Hill. "This is clearly nothing more than a politically motivated attack.”

The club was given a C rating by the inspector on site, meaning its operations are conditionally satisfactory, and labeled the food establishment under its risk 4 category.

“At the time of the inspection the establishment was found not to be operating in substantial compliance with this chapter and was in violation of one or more provisions of this chapter,” according to the report.

A follow-up inspection was conducted three hours after Forbes' Tuesday article, which resulted in the club receiving a B grade, but there were still six violations, including two labeled critical, according to the outlet.
