House approves disclosure of sexual misconduct settlements

The House this week approved a resolution to release the names of chamber lawmakers who used taxpayer funds for sexual misconduct settlements.

Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., brought the measure as a privileged resolution.

"Transparency is essential to the operation of government, and Americans have a right to know if their taxpayer dollars settled congressional sexual misconduct claims," he said in an X post.

The measure passed 420-0, with Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., voting present. Mace told CNN that she had voted present because the she believed the bill duplicated work she had already done.
