Former special counsel Jack Smith will publicly testify to the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, confirmed.

Smith previously sat for a closed-door deposition in connection with his probe into President Donald Trump's handling of classified materials and his efforts to challenge the 2020 presidential election.

“He’s coming in,” Jordan said, according to Politico. Republicans have long criticized Smith's case, asserting it was politically motivated. Some have contrasted the Smith case with that of special counsel Robert Hur, who criticized President Joe Biden's handling of classified materials, but never brought charges.

Jordan did not specify a set date for the hearing.
