King Charles III on brother's arrest: 'The law must take its course'

The former Duke of York has long been in the public cross hairs over his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and the king previously stripped him of his royal titles.

King Charles III on Thursday issued a statement on the arrest of his brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, saying that the "law must take its course."

The former Duke of York has long been in the public cross hairs over his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and the king previously stripped him of his royal titles. Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on Thursday in connection with a misconduct probe.

"I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office," the king stated. "What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities."

"In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course," he said.

The king himself has not faced any accusations of wrongdoing.
