White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Monday dismissed allegations that the Saturday evening incident in which a gunman attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump was a staged event.

“It’s very important to us that we get the truth and the facts about this case and any case out there as quickly as possible, to dispel some of that crazy nonsense that you see running rampant online,” she said, according to The Hill.
The suspect, Cole Allen, is in custody and was arraigned on Monday. He faces charges of attempting to assassinate Trump. The matter marks the latest serious attempt on Trump's life, following the assassination attempt in Butler, Pa., and the later attempt a Florida golf course.
