Musk says Epstein files have been buried because Trump is in them
Trump, for his part, has suggested that Musk's true objection rested with the bill's elimination of electric vehicle tax credits.
Elon Musk on Thursday said the files related to the late billionaire and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein have not been made public due to President Trump's presence in the files.
Musk made the remarks amid an ongoing public row between the two over the "big, beautiful bill." While on the campaign, Trump repeatedly promised to release the Epstein files on day one. Early in his administration, Attorney General Pam Bondi promised their release, but ultimately provided influencers with already public information in a widely maligned photo op.
"Time to drop the really big bomb: [Donald Trump] is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!" Musk posted.
The jab follows Trump suggesting the government could balance the budget by eliminating the subsidies to Musk's companies. The Tesla founder has been a vocal critic of the legislation over its failure to address the deficit.
