Netanyahu urges Iranians to rise up against Islamic regime

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday urged the Iranian people to overthrow the Islamic Republic of Iran and insisted that the Israeli government and its people would support them.

His reference to Cyrus the Great refers to the Persian conquest of Babylon, an event that Jews typically see as the end of a period of captivity following the fall of the Kingdom of Judah.

Netanyahu made the remarks amid ongoing missile exchanges between Israel and Iran. Israel launched a preemptive strike on Iran's nuclear facilities on Thursday that has since led to Iranian attacks on Tel Aviv.

"We are in the midst of one of the largest military operations in history - Operation Dawn of the Lions.
The Islamic regime that has oppressed you for almost 50 years threatens to destroy our country - Israel," he said.
"The goal of Israel's operation is to prevent the Islamic regime's nuclear and ballistic missile threats.

While we achieve our goal, we also pave the way for you to achieve your freedom."
