NYC landlords sue city over rent freeze
The landlords asserted that the panel resorted to "multiple manipulations" of its own data by understating landlord costs and overestimating their revenue.
New Yo9rk City landlords have filed a lawsuit challenging a planned rent freeze on apartments in the Big Apple, asserting that the committee that voted for the freeze manipulated data to justify it.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani, according to the complaint, relied on the Rent Guidelines Board that voted for the rent freeze after allegedly appointing political ideologues to the body to approve his plans.
“Once he assumed office, the Mayor went to extraordinary lengths to pack the Board with loyalists and then spent millions in City funds to fill the Board’s hearings with tenant advocates,” the suit claims, according to Politico.

The suit was filed in the Supreme Court of Staten Island.
