Ohio AG Dave Yost to resign 8 months early: Report

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost will reportedly announce his resignation on Thursday, with eight months left in his term.

The Columbus Dispatch first reported on Yost's plans, citing "two sources." Yost's term is not set to expire until early 2027. He is not eligible for reelection, have been first election in 2018.

Yost previously mounted a gubernatorial bid, but dropped out in the face of the Trump-endorsed Vivek Ramaswamy's entry into the race. Ramaswamy claimed the party nomination this week.

The reasons for Yost's expected resignation were not immediately clear, but his departure will likely not complicate the November contest to replace him in light of the completed primaries.

Gov. Mike DeWine, R-Ohio, will face the task of appointing a temporary replacement.
