A majority of Americans in a poll published Tuesday said that they support the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) conducting an audit of the Social Security Administration, amid concerns over fraud.

The department has been conducting audits at multiple government agencies over the past month, in an effort to restructure the federal government.

A Rasmussen Reports poll on Tuesday found that 59% of respondents said they would support having DOGE audit Social Security, including 41% who are strongly in favor of the audit.

Approximately one third of respondents (35%) said they would not support the audit, including 23% who said they strongly oppose it.

The survey polled 1,241 likely U.S. voters nationwide on Feb. 19, 20, and 23. It has a three percent margin of error, and a 95% level of confidence.
