Two polls find Trump approval rising within GOP despite Epstein backlash
"If anything, Donald Trump's approval rating has gone up since this whole Epstein saga started," CNN's Harry Enten said Thursday. "He is at the apex or close in terms of his popularity with Republican voters."
Two polls released on Wednesday found that President Donald Trump's support within the Republican Party is actually rising, despite backlash over his administration's handling of an investigation into the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.
The first poll was released by CNN and found that Trump's approval rating within his own party increased by two percent compared to last week's poll. The president's approval rating was 88% on Wednesday, and 86% last week.
The second poll found the president's approval rating within the GOP even higher, with 90% of Republicans indicating a positive view of Trump in Wednesday's poll, compared to 87% in the previous one.
"If anything, Donald Trump's approval rating has gone up since this whole Epstein saga started," CNN's Harry Enten said Thursday. "He is at the apex or close in terms of his popularity with Republican voters."
The numbers come after the same Quinnipiac University poll showed that support for Democrats in Congress within their own party is at an all-time low, with just 39% of Democratic voters claiming they approve of how they are handling their job, and 52% disapproving. The poll comes just one year before the 2026 midterms.
