Ron Johnson, Rand Paul release first batch of texts from Fauci's phone

Sens. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., and Rand Paul, R-Ky., released a string of text messages recovered from Dr. Anthony Fauci's government-issued phone.

The text chain includes a discussion between Fauci, former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky, and former U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy.

The trio discuss whether evidence favored receiving a COVID-19 vaccine early or late into a pregnancy and a need to dispel "misperceptions" that an mRNA vaccine could "get into your genes." Notably, Fauci addresses a "theoretical" association between certain symptoms and 1st trimester miscarriages.

Johnson's office confirmed that Fauci's phone contained more than 34,000 text messages and 522 voicemails. Johnson obtained the phone from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and plans to release more messages in the future.

Johnson's office asserted that the text chain could have "an immediate impact of public health and the principle of informed consent."
