Scott Jennings joins calls for GOP to swap out embattled Rep. Max Miller

CNN political commentator Scott Jennings this week joined the growing voices calling for the Republican Party to swap out embattled Rep. Max Miller, R-Ohio, for another candidate in November.

Miller has faced allegations of abuse, including claims he put a gut to the head of his ex-wife, Emily Moreno, and poured boiling water on her. Moreno has filed a restraining order against Miller, as has former White House Communications Director Stephanie Grisham, who previously dated Miller, whom she alleged was abusive.

Miller has denied wrongdoing and declined to drop out of the race, though some prominent Republicans have called for him to go. 

Speaking on CNN, Jennings joined that list, saying it would be "proper" for the GOP to replace Miller.

“It would be proper for the party to get a candidate here who can pay their full attention to representing the people of Ohio,” Jennings said. “Let this guy go and try to heal himself because he’s obviously a troubled person."

Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, Miller's former father-in-law has said he should not serve in Congress, but key figures, including President Donald Trump, have declined to publicly call for Miller to exit the race.

The Hill reported Wednesday, however, that Trump had privately told Miller to drop out, citing a source.
